I’m Kloudya (pronounced as Claudia) – wife, puppy-mom, entrepreneur, corporate e-Commerce Business Analyst, and Founder of #SheBecameFearless. I was born in Chile and moved to the US with my family as a teenager to help support my brother’s musical career. My family decided to take a chance and move here in hope of a better future. Leaving everything behind and carrying just a pair of suitcases, off we went into the unknown.

I remember the day I moved here; I was excited, scared, sad, and very overwhelmed. I didn’t know the language, didn’t have any friends, didn’t have my extended family, and left our comfortable life back-at-home to risk it all for the vision of bigger opportunities in this country.

Little did I know, as a fifteen year old, that my life would forever change and that the person I would become would be highly impacted by any actions taken from that day forward.

Upon arrival, the next day, I was immediately enrolled in school and placed in an 8th grade classroom. It was terrifying; I did not know anything, everyone was a stranger, didn’t understand conversations in English, didn’t even know how to walk myself home from school! What about homework? Well, let’s just say that it’s not like I could come home and sit with my parents to review classroom material. My parents were knee-deep tirelessly working long hours to build our life back up again.

After a month of experiencing this drastic life-altering move, which I’d describe as the hardest time of my life, I realized that I had 2 options:

  • I could either let this stress depress, discourage, and ruin me. I could just take the easy way out and “go with the flow” or take it “day by day”
  • Or I could take all the roadblocks as opportunities to thrive and push myself beyond pain and suffering to build a better future for myself. After all, that’s why my parents gave up their lives, needs, and wants – to give my brother and I a better shot at life

I vividly remember the moment that I made the decision that I will succeed, no matter what. I promised myself that I would work as hard as possible, push myself beyond my limits, shake off bullying and become a fearless woman that would create her own fate.

First, I committed myself to learning English no matter what it took. I would be the first kid in school in the morning and last one to leave. I would then go home and study English, take a break to help maintain the house since my parents were working, and then study more and more and more until I could not longer stay awake. I did this every single day for 3 months until I finally learned the language.

Within the 1st year of living in the US I learned fluent English, graduated 8th grade with Honors, and passed all 3 sections of the NJ State Academic test that placed me into a prestigious STEM Academy program with a scholarship. From then onward I knew that nothing would ever slow me down again, not a language barrier, not money, not the 13 times I’ve moved in my life; nothing would slow me down again. I became fearless.

Fast forward 13 years of life, which included some serious, intense, and profound hardships; here we are today.

I would not trade my past for anything. It allowed me to develop this burning fire that is forever inside of me; a determination to want to reach greatness. It brought out a level of passion and commitment to self-development, it gave me hurt that has for forever enhanced me. The lesson here is that negative life events happen for a reason; to shape us into something greater. If we let the hurt from those lessons settle in, some really great stuff can happen to our character if we approach it with the right attitude.

I couldn’t be more thankful for all the challenges that were put in-front of me. They gave me the ambition to reach goals I’ve set for myself, such as starting 2 businesses, learning additional 3 languages, traveling to 21+ countries, joining the corporate world as an e-Commerce Business Analyst, and other personal accomplishments that have led me to today.

After all, it took me quite some time to build the life I always dreamed of having.

Now, I don’t tell you this to create envy. My purpose here is to prove to you that you can literally accomplish ANYTHING you set your mind to. If I can do it, then YOU CAN DO IT even better.
